Ghana: Aggressive Airtel - Airtel Ghana has introduced a 50 percent bonus on all pre-paid data bundle rates between 12.00 midnight and 5 a.m., Ghana Business News has reported. It already offers the lowest pay-as-you-go rates.
4 April 2012:
Nigeria: Eltek established - Power system provider Eltek has opened an office in Lagos, to provide sales and after-sales technical services in western Africa.Younis Shan is now Regional Sales Director for Nigeria and West Africa and Chibuzor Okwudili joins as sales and technical support manager. Eltek is a provider of telecom DC power systems in Africa.

Iran: Double Standards - MTN Group has denied allegations made by a US-based lobbying group that it bought technology that allowed the Iranian government to track mobile users, saying in a letter to a US lobbying group, that its Iranian unit is compliant with all laws, Dow Jones Newswires has reported. The claim was made in a letter to MTN's CEO in January. Similar claims have been made of Huawei and Nokia. However the Lawful Interception Management System is a feature of mobile network architecture, mandated by the US Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act (CALEA). Ho hum.
